Police have launched an investigation into the alleged murder of 28-year-old labourer Nicholas Narine, also known as ‘Biggs’, of Agricola, East Bank Demerara. The incident occurred around 08:15 hours on Monday at Titus Street, Agricola.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Rafael Bollers, an unemployed resident of Brutus Street, Agricola, is currently being sought by law enforcement.
According to initial investigations, Narine and the suspect were known to each other. On the morning of the incident, Narine was in the company of others cleaning a drain along Titus Street, just east of the suspect’s yard, which is bordered by a concrete fence. It was at this time that Bollers allegedly armed himself with a handgun and discharged several rounds in Narine’s direction.
Narine was struck multiple times and collapsed to the ground. The suspect then reportedly fled the scene in a southern direction, taking the firearm with him.
The wounded man was rushed to the Diamond Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor. Reports indicate that Narine sustained three gunshot wounds—one to the back, one to the right upper arm, and one to the right side of his abdomen.
Crime scene detectives recovered one 9mm spent shell during their processing of the area. Several individuals have since been questioned, and statements were taken as part of the ongoing investigation.
The victim’s body has been transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Police are continuing their efforts to locate the suspect as investigations continue.
