Residents from the two riverain communities of Orealla and Siparuta up the Corentyne river have been seeing significant developments, similar to those villages situated along the coast.
Among the projects residents have been benefiting from include the construction of a road linking Orealla with Siparuta, a new jetty to facilitate the water ambulance, construction of bridges, and expansion to schools within the two communities.
Regional Executive Officer, Narindra Persaud
Only recently, the Regional Executive Officer, Narindra Persaud visited the two communities where he handed over a fishing vessel to fisherfolks.
This was a promise made to the communities by the President Irfaan Ali when residents had complained about not being able to properly store their catch.
Residents from the two communities were very appreciative to the Government for delivering on its promise.
While speaking with the media, they also expressed how thankful they are for the many infrastructural projects and other Government investments that have been made to Orealla and Siparuta.
Meanwhile, consultations are currently underway for other projects to be done within the two riverain communities.
