A prominent cricket administrator in Region Six has been placed on over $200,000 station bail following several allegations of rape made by a 20-year-old former pathway worker attached to his office. This was confirmed by Region Six Commander, Shivpersaud Bacchus.
During an interview with the media, the victim alleged that the incidents began in 2022 and continued until November 2024, during her employment at the club. She claimed that the accused, who is a prominent sports figure in Berbice, engaged in inappropriate actions toward her on multiple occasions.
The victim stated that the first incident occurred when she was invited into the accused’s office under the pretext of collecting items. She further alleged that she resisted these actions and made it clear she was not interested but felt intimidated by the accused’s position.
The young woman, who said she was fearful of speaking out initially, eventually confided in her family. Her mother later confronted the accused, who allegedly admitted to the claims.
The matter has since been reported to the authorities, and the investigation file has been completed and sent for legal advice, which is expected to be provided before the end of the day.
The victim’s family has since called for justice, stating that the incidents have caused significant emotional distress for the young woman.
An investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officials are awaiting legal guidance before taking further steps. The accused has been released on station bail pending further proceedings.
