Superintendent Ravindra Stanley, graduated on Saturday with a Commonwealth Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Guyana.
Stanley, in 2012, graduated from the University of Guyana with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Public Management and ever since has had his eyes set on pursuing a Master’s Degree, a task now completed.
Superintendent Ravindra Stanley currently serves as the Deputy Commander of Regional Division #6. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Commander in Divisions 3, 4’B’ and 4’C’; Head of the Force’s Narcotics Branch for short periods; was (ag) Head of the Audit and Inspection Unit, Finance Officer and Officer-in-Charge of Impact Base in ‘A’ Division, Officer-in-Charge Bartica Police Station and also served in all of the Sub-Divisions within then ‘A’ now 4’A’ Division. Superintendent Stanley also had brief stints as the Commander of Divisions 4’B’ and 6.
Stanley joined the Guyana Police Force on October 09, 2000 and has worked his way through the ranks while also equipping himself academically; his promotions and qualifications stands as a testimony to that.
Stanley was first promoted to Corporal in May 2006, Sergeant in January 2010, Inspector in August 2012, Assistant Superintendent in January 2015, Deputy Superintendent in January 2016, and to Superintendent in July 2022.
Apart from his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees, Mr Stanley also has a Diploma in Public Management from the University of Guyana, a Certificate in Industrial Relations and Management from the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (IDCE) and has completed numerous courses with the Guyana Police Force such as the Professional Certificate in Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crimes Prevention, Strategic Planning Course, and the Junior Officers’ Course among others.
Superintendent Stanley, in an invited comment, took the opportunity to offer some words of encouragement to the younger members of the Force who may be hesitant to pursue higher education. “Education is our passport for the future. So every opportunity that presents itself to develop your academic status, don’t hesitate, grab it with both hands,” he urged.
