18-year-old Kevin Somrah of Queen Street Corriverton appeared in the Springlands Magistrates Court before Magistrate Renita Singh who read a murder charge to him today.
Somrah was not required to plea to charge which alleged that on the 12th June 2023 at Corriverton, he murdered 25-year-old Porsuram Ganpat of Number 57 village Corentyne.
thenewsdeskgy.com understands that the deceased was stabbed multiple times by his 18-year-old brother-in-law at about 2 hours 30 on the day in question after the deceased intervened in an argument he had with his sister that led to a scuffle.
The teenage suspect became annoyed, armed himself with a knife, and brutally attacked his brother-in-law, dealing him several stabs about the body.
He was picked up and rushed to Port Mourant Hospital, where he succumbed.
Somrah is expected to return to court on 27th July for report and submission of a post-mortem report which has not been completed.
