A 17-year-old from Adventure Village, Corentyne, narrowly escaped serious injury on Friday afternoon after the car he was driving crashed into a parked trailer along the Lesbeholden Public Road, Black Bush Polder, Corentyne, Berbice.
Police reported that around 14:40 hrs, motor car PAL 1944, owned and driven by Isaiah Seechun, was heading south along the roadway at an alleged fast rate when the teen lost control and slammed into trailer TLL 2046, which was parked on the western shoulder of the road. The trailer is owned by contractor Annirude Ramchalitar of Friendship Village, Corentyne.
The collision left the front left side of the car badly damaged. However, public-spirited persons quickly assisted the teen, who was conscious at the time, and rushed him to the Port Mourant Public Hospital. There, he was examined by a doctor and treated for a laceration to his left knee and minor injuries. He was kept under observation for about two hours before being discharged.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
