Police are investigating an armed robbery involving Yuki Nakata, a 46-year-old tourist from Japan, who was vacationing in Georgetown. Nakata, who was staying at a residence on Freeman Street, East La Penitence, was attacked and robbed at knifepoint on Cemetery Road at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
According to police reports, two unidentified men, one armed with a knife, confronted Nakata and robbed him of several valuable items, including a black one-strap bag valued at GYD $5,000, a Japanese passport, a Haowie cellular phone valued at US $300, and a black Canon camera worth US $100.
The incident occurred while Nakata was walking along Cemetery Road, heading north in search of a restaurant. The perpetrators approached him, held him at knifepoint, and forcibly took the bag containing his personal belongings.
Nakata promptly reported the robbery to the East Ruimveldt Police Outpost. Officers conducted searches in the area, but the suspects were not found. Investigators have questioned several individuals in the vicinity as the investigation continues.
