Police are investigating a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two persons this morning (Thursday, February 27, 2025) on the Haags Bosch main access road, commonly known as the Dump Site Road, at Eccles, East Bank Demerara.
The accident involved motorcar #PAJ 375, driven by 39-year-old Shane Tyndall, and occupied by 35-year-old Shabeca Gordon, the owner of the vehicle. Both victims resided at Lot 609 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle was traveling east along the northern driving lane at a high speed when the driver lost control and crashed into a concrete rail on the edge of the road. The impact caused the car to flip multiple times before coming to a stop approximately 130 feet away, submerged in a trench on the northern side of the roadway.
Eyewitnesses and public-spirited citizens rushed to the scene and managed to pull both occupants from the wreckage. However, by the time the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) arrived, both individuals were unresponsive. They were later pronounced dead at the scene.
The bodies have since been transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where post-mortem examinations are expected to be conducted.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
