A two-year-old child, Tauren McLeanon, tragically drowned in the Upper Berbice River on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
According to the child’s mother, 39-year-old Tamika Joaquin of Kwakwani Waterfront, Tauren went to the river around 3:00 PM to bathe but later disappeared. Residents launched a search, and the child’s lifeless body was eventually recovered.
The body was taken to the Kwakwani Hospital, where a doctor pronounced the child dead on arrival. It is currently at the hospital’s morgue, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
