Reigning Miss World, Andrea King
The reigning Miss World Guyana 2022 titleholder, Andrea King has announced her decision to withdraw from the 2024 coronation ceremony, citing unresolved issues surrounding the fulfillment of her grand prize.
In a statement titled “Statement on My Decision to Step Away from the 2024 Miss World Guyana Coronation,” she revealed that her choice followed prolonged delays and a lack of meaningful response from the Miss World Guyana organization regarding the delivery of a 2017 Toyota Vitz, one of the grand prizes she won during the 2022 competition.
According to her statement, the prize was included in the official contract but remains undelivered despite repeated follow-ups. She expressed disappointment over the organization’s handling of the matter, describing the lack of urgency as a disregard for her rightful claim as a titleholder.
While acknowledging the opportunities and experiences gained throughout her reign, the titleholder emphasized that her decision was grounded in her commitment to fairness, accountability, and integrity. “Showing up without absolute resolution would not align with the values of integrity and respect I strive to uphold,” she stated.
She extended her gratitude to her supporters, expressing appreciation for their encouragement throughout her journey. Though stepping away from the coronation, she affirmed her continued commitment to the principles that guide her.
The Miss World Guyana organization has not yet issued a response regarding the statement or the status of the disputed prize.
