Ram Singh, the suspect in the alleged murder of his reputed wife, 36-year-old Alisha Narine called “Tito,” succumbed on Sunday, September 14, 2025, after reportedly consuming a poisonous substance. Singh was under police guard at the No. 75 Village Regional Hospital, Corentyne, Berbice, where he was receiving treatment, when he died at about 14:30 hrs.
The incident occurred earlier that morning between 09:30 hrs and 10:00 hrs at a sawmill compound in Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, where Narine, a domestic worker and vendor of Plot Z, Track Y, Grant 1780, resided with Singh. The couple had shared a common-law relationship for fifteen years and had two children, ages 15 and 8. Reports indicate they were experiencing ongoing domestic problems that had already engaged the court’s attention.

Investigations revealed that Narine had video-called her cousin, Taramattie Joseph called “Vanessa”, a 34-year-old U.S.-based Guyanese, around 09:30 hrs. During the call, Joseph observed Singh approaching from behind with a cutlass. Singh then took the phone and told her, “Today, today I will murder her,” before ending the call. Joseph immediately informed her daughter of what transpired.
Shortly after, Felisha Narine called “Tanoja,” the 18-year-old daughter of the deceased, was contacted by a neighbour, Nita, who told her that Singh was assaulting her mother. Felisha rushed to the sawmill compound, where she discovered her mother’s motionless body with apparent chop wounds. She then reported the matter to the Springlands Police Station.
Police launched a search and later found Singh about 360 feet away in a sideline trench under a tree, where he was suspected to have ingested poison. He was arrested, cautioned, and taken to the hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.
Both bodies are at the Skeldon Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examinations.
