The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) seized millions worth of liquors from a Palmyra businessman on Monday evening after his wife made the revelation to police after the woman visited the station to make a domestic violence report against her husband (the businessman).
According to information reaching The News Desk, the wife of the businessman visited the Central Police Station in New Amsterdam last night and filed a report of domestic violence being meted out to her by her husband.
Ranks visited the scene to speak with the businessman and conducted a search of the premises during which a large quantity of liquor was found.
A source close to the investigation noted that, GRA was contacted and informed about the discovery after which customs officers arrived at the location, and the liquors were seized pending investigation.
The News Desk understands that following the discovery, the businessman was taken into custody where he was processed for court in relation to the domestic violence matter while investigations are continuing in connection with millions in uncustomed alcohol.
