Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred around 11:00 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2025, on the Land of Canaan public road, East Bank Demerara, which resulted in the deaths of 22-year-old Ronaldo Gordon and 23-year-old Joel Sutherland.
The accident involved motor car #PAD 7677, driven by Gordon, a resident of Lot 354, Timehri North, with Sutherland, of Lot 94, Timehri North, seated in the front passenger seat.
According to reports, the vehicle was traveling north at a high speed when Gordon lost control, causing it to veer into the opposite lane and crash into a concrete bridge rail. The impact left the car severely damaged, and both occupants were thrown from the vehicle, suffering critical injuries.
Passersby rushed to their aid, transporting them to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where they were examined by Dr. Clementson and pronounced dead on arrival.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
