As part of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic administration’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare across the country, another state-of-the-art regional hospital has been commissioned, this time at Number 75 Village on the Corentyne earlier today.
The new facility is designed to provide modern and specialized services, ensuring residents have access to high-quality medical care that meets the standard the people of Guyana deserve.
This development reflects the government’s promise not to leave Region Six behind, guaranteeing that communities along the Corentyne benefit from some of the best healthcare services available.
Delivering the feature address, President Mohamed Irfaan Ali described the Number 75 Regional Hospital as the most modern health facility ever built in Region Six, noting that it stands as a symbol of his administration’s commitment to equitable and accessible healthcare for all Guyanese.

“ Previously, a sick patient in this area might have had to travel over an hour to New Amsterdam or four hours to Georgetown for treatment… Today, that reality changes. Time in healthcare is life, and this facility is about saving lives.”
The hospital is outfitted with three fully equipped operating theatres, along with a specialized maternity suite, a Neonatal Care Intensive Unit (NICU), an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and a High Dependency Unit (HDU). It also houses a dialysis unit with twelve chairs, the first of its kind in the region as well as a blood bank and laboratory capable of conducting more than 150 tests.
Residents will now have access to advanced diagnostic services, including CT scans, x-rays, and ultrasound imaging, while mammography services will allow for early breast cancer detection. Dedicated departments for dental, ophthalmology, and audiology care are also included, ensuring that patients can receive a wide range of treatment under one roof.
In addition, the hospital is equipped with its own on-site oxygen generation plant, a 24-hour emergency department and pharmacy, and seventy-five air-conditioned inpatient beds, each fitted with private amenities and nurse call systems. To ensure seamless operations, the facility also incorporates essential support services such as a mortuary, sterilisation unit, food services, and laundry.
With these advanced services and facilities, the hospital is expected to significantly reduce referral times and improve health outcomes across the region.

The new Number 75 Regional Hospital forms part of a wider national strategy that has already seen six regional hospitals opened in less than three months.
President Ali emphasised that the transformation goes beyond infrastructure, highlighting that human development, digital systems, and equitable access remain at the core of Guyana’s healthcare vision.
“ We’re building a system that’s science-driven, patient-centered, and technologically advanced. Every Guyanese, regardless of location, must feel that they’re receiving world-class care, because they deserve nothing less.”
Among the officials present at the commissioning ceremony were Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Yang Yang, Regional Chairman David Armogan, Regional Vice Chairman Zamal Hussain, and Regional Executive Officer Narindra Persaud.
