During a stop and search operation this morning by officers from the Weldaad Police Station, a 27-year-old radio host and local singer, Shaima Muna was arrested after a large quantity of suspected narcotics was found in her vehicle.
The operation took place at around 5:47 a.m. on the Weldaad Public Road. Officers stopped a motor car bearing registration number PAB 6190, traveling towards Georgetown. The driver, identified as Shaima Muna of Charlestown, Georgetown, appeared nervous, and the officers noticed a strong scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle, raising their suspicion.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found two traveling bags—a red and a blue one—inside the trunk. The red bag contained two bulky parcels and a small parcel, while the blue bag held two bulky parcels, all wrapped in transparent plastic and suspected to contain narcotics.
Muna was immediately informed of the offense, arrested, and cautioned. During questioning, she admitted to owning the drugs, explaining that her mother was hospitalized and she had taken the risk to help cover medical expenses.
The total weight of the confiscated narcotics was 14kg 515 grams. Muna and the drugs were taken to the Weldaad Police Station, where the narcotics were weighed, marked, sealed, and stored securely. Samples were extracted and preserved as evidence for the ongoing investigation.
