Republic Bank Manager, Imran Saccoor was elected to serve as the President of the Region 5 – (Mahaica Berbice) Chamber of Industry and Commerce when the chamber held its annual general meeting on May 21.
Following the meeting, other executive members were also chosen to serve the community and business needs from May 21, 2023, to April 30, 2024.
A statement issued by the Region Five Chamber states that “member council was elected who then made the following elections. Imran Saccoor was elected as the President while Niron Singh was elected as the Vice President. Tage Singh was re-elected as the Treasurer and Hardat Malchan as the Secretary. Faizal Jafarally elected as the Business Liaison Officer, Pradeep Bachan as the Public Relations Officer and Arnand Kistoo will assist with Assistant /Secretary / Treasurer Duties.”
The President who is a Banker by profession noted that he looks forward to working with business stakeholders to widen the scope of opportunities within the Region. He said the Chamber will continue to work closely with the Government and all stakeholders for development and look forward to continuing this journey with a good working relationship.
The chamber is confident that the enabling business environment is accommodating to promote business growth and building investors’ confidence.
