
Police are investigating a serious accident that occurred on Friday, January 24, 2025, at about 7:40 p.m. on the Edinburgh Public Road, East Bank Berbice.
The accident involved motorcycle #CL 6501, driven by 24-year-old Dellon Archer of Glasgow Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice, and stationary motor car #HA 9511.
According to initial investigations, motor car #HA 9511 was parked on the western corner of the road, facing south, without its lights on, while the driver had gone into a nearby shop. Meanwhile, motorcycle #CL 6501, which was heading south along the eastern drive lane at a fast rate of speed, collided with the rear of the parked vehicle after its rider reportedly lost control.
It was also noted that the motorcyclist was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the accident.
As a result of the collision, Archer was flung onto the western parapet, sustaining injuries to his body. He was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. There, he was examined by a doctor on duty and is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.
Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
