A seven-year-old female from Sandhill Friendship Savannah up the Berbice River collapsed and later died on Thursday.
The dead girl has been identified as Delisha Denhart who died at about 22 hours 40 on the day in question.
According to information received, the child would usually suffer from epilepsy since she was thirteen months old and as a result, she would receive treatment from various doctors.
Her mother 30 year old Shonelle Caple recalled that on Thursday about 08 hours, she was at home when she felt her daughter skin with a high tempature. She stated that she gave her daughter something to eat and then her tablets to drink after which she retired to bed and woke up sometime after.
Caple noted that at about 14 hours she saw her daughter was breathing very hard. She said at about 21 hours she heard Denhart fell down and went to intervene. Upon arrival in the bedroom, she saw her daughter catching a seizure with slime coming from her mouth. She then washed her face with water and she catch herself. The seven year old started to breathe at a heavy rate again and a few minutes after she stop breathing.
Her body was escorted to the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital on Friday where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The police are awaiting the result of a post-mortem examination as investigations are ongoing.
