Two armed suspects have been arrested while a third remains at large following a robbery at the Ocean View Hotel in Better Hope, East Coast Demerara. The incident occurred around 8:20 PM, leaving a 56-year-old businessman injured after being shot in the abdomen.
According to police, the businessman, who lives in a house attached to his hotel, was conducting business in the bar when three unmasked men, all armed, confronted him. They demanded cash and jewelry while forcing him from the bar to his home. When he refused to comply, one of the suspects shot him.
The men then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and valuables. The businessman was taken to a private hospital where he is in stable condition.
After receiving the report, police moved quickly and arrested two suspects at Industry, East Coast Demerara. The suspects are identified as Winston Harris, 35, of Eccles, and Dexter Simon, 38, of Georgetown.
During a search, police found a .32 revolver with live rounds and two cellphones. A chase for the third suspect led to the recovery of another firearm, but he escaped.
Investigations are ongoing as police search for the third suspect, and authorities are working to recover the stolen items.
